Family Values Sign
Wall art, illustration, and hand-lettering
Greg is a life and fitness coach. He hired me to create a multilingual family wall art.
He has written a list of values for his family, and he wants to imprint them in their minds so they can work together towards their goals.
Mood board
After our first conversation, it was clear to me that he wanted a retro style with their 3 languages focusing on English. All family members like green color, and I can pair it with other feminine colors for the 2 little girls.
I presented the boards over a Zoom call. The first mood board was a little too strong for the family, and they told me that their favorite color combo is one of my best-performing pattern collections. So we agreed, and I was able to move forward with the rough sketching.
Rough Sketches
I created 3 different versions focusing on family, love, and a simple banner design.
The family chose the 3rd simple banner version with a little twist. They wanted to sneak in the walking family and add small flowers and hearts here and there.
Final art
Using the agreed color palette, I created the final design with vector brushes in Fresco and added vintage textures in Photoshop. You can see the little family on the bottom and the scattered flowers and hearts incorporated in the lettering and the banner corners.
Upon agreeing on the final design, I sent the files to Greg for printing of their choice.
Testimonial
“At the beginning of this year, I had an idea to write down our family values so that we can be reminded daily when we see them.
I wrote it down on my computer, but I wanted it to be something we could also show in our home and make it a conversation piece. Most importantly, my family and I could look at it every day to keep us moving in the same direction.
While scrolling Instagram, I came across Adrea’s page, and I thought it would be a great idea to see if Andrea could help us design this piece for our home.
I can only say that this was an amazing experience and one I am definitely doing again.
She was super responsive and helpful, and we are super happy with the end result. Now we’ll have to print it out and put it in our living room. Can’t wait.
Andrea, thank you very much. We are very happy that we chose you to design this important piece for our home!
Sincerely yours,
Gregory Dirksz“
